Calvin, 18x24 inches, acrylic on canvas, work in progress |
My client thought Calvin was looking too serious and described him as a big goofy clown. One of the photos he sent showed him smiling with his tongue out so I have changed his expression here. Still have a lot more work to go, and I need to get a move on!
His feet still look a little awkward to me, but they are getting better and of course I need to work on his face some more.
Happy Paint Party Friday! Hope I can get around to seeing everyone else this week too. To see the other things that have been happening around the place you can check out my other blogs.
On another note I have recieved two of my postcards from the Liberate Your Art postcard swap. I think this is really cool, tho I haven't had time to go and check out the artists websites yet. I don't know what the deal is with the post card photo. That image is vertical on my computer but twice blogger has uploaded it sideways. When I get a chance I'll take some better pics and link them to the artists websites. In the meantime you can visit participating artists sites through the Liberate Your Art link on the right.
Look forward to seeing that doggy smile, am sure he is a great character. Happy PPF, Annette x

ReplyDeleteHe's coming along beautifully, you're well on your way to capturing his spirit!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF (a day late;))

You are braver than I am, painting pets gets into some deeply personal territory. It must be really challenging when you only see photos, not the real animal. You are doing a great job with Calvin.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll do a super job making those changes - I'd find that very hard.
ReplyDeleteI think Calvin looks wonderful! I've had the same problem with blogger changing photos round and the only way I could fix it was to make the rotate the picture myself and then upload it and somehow blogger then righted it! weird!
ReplyDeleteYour portrait is looking great! He looks so huggable!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!
He does look friendlier, happier now. It suits him. Labs are always big goofy kids aren't they?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! So soft & loveable, great subject too :)

ReplyDeleteHi Mary, Calvin is so handsome! I got one of your postcards from the swap! The swap is so much fun. I love the dreaming kitty, really gorgeous. Your painting reminds me of a sweet kitty son I used to have. xo
